Post Sporting Clays Season Meeting
Attendees: Lance Schellenbarger, Murray Swenson,
Jeremy Mohs, Jen Mohs, Curt Schuft, Bob Schmit, Bob Williams
The following topics were discussed with
action items assigned as necessary:
- The Schweiss shoot raffle will be renamed
the "Range improvement Raffle". Proceeds will be
used to improve the rifle and pistol ranges. The raffle will
be headed by those shooting groups. ACTION REQUIRED.
- The Schweiss shoot will be held on June
21st.
- The DU shoot will be held on July 26th.
The 2008 clays league will be broken into
three (3) Four week increments. This will result in our League
lasting an additional week in August. (An extra changeover and
a new course). Bob Williams will coordinate the printing of the
Gopher Campfire calendar with Rocky Lambert.
The discipline displayed by each of the
shooting teams resulted in our saving a lot of clay pigeons during
the shooting season. (no extra birds). We will ask for that same
effort in 2008. Thanks to every one.
Over the last few years, we have focuses
on minimizing our liability exposure by purchasing automatic
throwers and keeping trap boys out of the equipment. Now, we
must replace the Allis Chalmers tractor (no brakes).
We've had a number of close calls and shouldn't be taking the risk
of continuing to use it. How about a used Ford/Ferguson Utility
Tractor?
If you have any additions or corrections
to these minutes, please contact me.

2006
Season Report
Summary
- League Nights we shot 2,656 rounds of 50 clays or 102,500 shells
fired.
- Our unit cost per round thrown (labor) was at an all time low
of $.77/round. This is due to our investing in automated throwers.
Automated throwers also make our clays course much safer.
- In addition to our Monday Night shoot, we had a:
- DU Shoot
- Schweiss Shoot
Both
of these events generated revenue. Bob Williams also used the equipment
to generate revenue for the club at Major Avenue. The 5-stand setup
also was used to generate revenue for the club at the Gopher Outing.
None of this would have been possible without the efforts of Bob
Williams, Jaye Williams, Jeremy Mohs, Tom Benson, Curt Schuft, Bob
Schmit, Murray Swenson, Duane Schmeling and Dick Popp. Our season
ending fun night included the following trophies for that evening:
- 12 ga - Bob Mills
- 20 ga - Jeremy Schweiss
- 28 ga - Bob Williams
- 410 cal – Dick Schweiss
Next
years, year-end fun night will also feature a 16-ga trophy. Thanks
to Doc Voigt for cooking the sweet corn for the fun night. In
addition to the many thousands of dollars Dick Schweiss generated
with his mid summer shoot, he also installed a much-needed air
conditioner in the lower clubhouse. The theme of this summary
seems to focus on money and that is important, but the bottom
line is we had a lot of FUN!
