Trap Shooting 2008 Wrap Up

Well, another trap season has wrapped up.  It was a good season and I believe all that participated had a good time.  The adult team league was won by Schmeling Oil and the youth team league winner was the Hutch High School Team #1.  In the individual leagues, Mark Jelkin was high gun in 12 ga. division, Jerry Ciesla won the doubles and Mark Dallmann took honors in the small ga. shoot.  I would like to thank everybody that worked hard to make this season a success.  Hope to see a few more shooters out next year.
Craig Schmeling – League Chair

Trap League 2008

Here we are already talking about shooting with snow on the ground.  Last year was another success and fun time for league members.  We had a good year and should recognize Team Quade for winning their class last year.  Way to go guys!

Like years past, we need to say thank you to the people and teams who volunteered their time to make the Trap league possible.  All the leagues at Gopher Campfire would not exist without the volunteer efforts to make them happen.  Thank you for your efforts!

We made a few changes for this summers trap league, such as allowing teams to shoot ahead a week without penalty, and permitting partial team shooting on the same night.  We hope people will find these changes convenient and allow for more people to shoot this summer without having to be there every Tuesday night.

Clubhouse, trap houses, and range cleanup will be Tuesday evening April 22nd starting at 5:30 pm.   If everyone shows up, we will be done in 1-2 hours.  I am sure there will be beverages!  In case of rain or snow, we will delay the fun cleanup until the following Saturday afternoon starting at 1pm.

Pending weather and conditions of the trap grounds, we will open Tuesday, April 29th for a practice night of shooting and will start league on May 06.  Shooting starts at 5:45pm.

We offer the following trap shooting:
Open Practice – Anyone can shoot
            Team League (Handicap)
Individual League (16 yard event, 250 targets)
                        Open Doubles shooting
Small gauge Individual league pending interest

Anyone who is interested in Trap Shooting is welcome, you don’t have to be on a team to come out and shoot on Tuesday night and if you have a new team you are welcome!  We have all automatic traps including our doubles trap we put in a couple summers ago.  Again, this year we would like to see more people participate in the individual leagues and doubles!  Just try the doubles and you will be hooked.

If you have questions, interest or know of a responsible teenager that would like to be a “trapper” please contact Mark Jelkin at 587-2890 or Brian/Craig Schmeling at 587-587-3361.

Sincerely

Mark

Trap 2007

Last year was a success and fun league. We had a couple new teams that shot well and added to the competition last year. Like years in the past, we need to say thank you to many people and teams who volunteered their time to make the Trap league successful. All the leagues at Gopher Campfire would not exist without the volunteer efforts to make them happen. Again, thank you for your efforts!

2006 Trap Season Results

We had 13 teams competing in our League this summer - which included four youth teams. Shooting was fun and the competition between teams very close this year.

Thank you to the Gopher Campfire Members who volunteered their time to make the trap league successful and return a profit to the Club this year. Special thanks to Lanny Sanken, Tammy Kirchoff, Tracy Davenport for opening the club, and helping run the counter. Bob Schlueter, Brian Schmeling, Craig Schmeling, Chuck Lingbeek, and many others for closing the grounds weekly. Don Schroeder and Craig Schmeling for scoring all season. Brian Schmeling "the money man" for being our treasurer, he made sure the bills were paid, and that we had an accurate accounting of the money. Chuck Lingbeck for organizing, training and managing the trappers. Thank You to the numerous other members that helped during the year that I may have overlooked,

Special thanks to Bob, Jeremy, and Tom from the Sporting Clays group for setting up the 5-stand on our last night! It was a blast.

If you are interesting in serving as the Trap League Chairman, please let me know. I will no longer serve this role due to change in my personal time next year. Thank you

Sincerely;

Mark Jelkin

2005 Trap Season Results

We had 13 teams competing in our League this summer - which included four youth teams. The youth did a great job of shooting this year. We enjoy having them participate. They are the future of keeping the shooting sports alive.

At the beginning of 2005 we gave our 12V ATA280 to Sporting Clays and purchased a new 110v ATA544. Just prior to the Gopher Outing, the Gopher Board approved a new "Doubles" trap. With the help of Bob Williams and Tom Benson Gopher had this trap in place for the Outing Gopher Challenge Shoot that proved to be a great day. Many folks have really enjoyed shooting doubles the remainder of the season. Watch for a possible Doubles Winter League and Doubles Lewis League next summer. (We may even do oscillating doubles).

As a final note, I would like to say Thank You to the volunteers that make the Trap league run during the summer. A special thanks to Don and Craig for Scoring, Brian for taking care of the finances, grounds upkeep, and Craig for keeping us stocked with food and beverage. Thank You

Mark Jelkin
